Activities Offered:

  For the younger children:

We will teach the children about colors, shapes, uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet (writing them and learning their sound), they will learn what is different and what is the same, sorting, patterns, simple rules for getting along: sharing, taking turns, telling the truth, individual responsibility..., more than and less than, equal to, counting... We will paint, play with play-dough, blow bubbles, color (with crayons, colored pens and pencils), do the hokey pokey, cut (with approved child-scissors) and glue, make snacks, read stories, do finger-play songs, play with many toys, participate in backyard play. We will also go to the park. And more.

For the older children: (Any activity may be limited by parental request)

We have computer learning, arts and crafts, video games, learning to cook, watching movies, help with homework, backyard play, going to the park, puzzles, books to read (books can also be ordered and added to our library), building models (of cars, sailing ships, airplanes...), and if your child has any specific interests or hobbies we can help them grow.

The Extra Pluses of my childcare are:

1) * For parent-students attending school some free hours of childcare are available for studytime. (I know Child Action doesn't allow for enough.)
(*number of hours contingent on number hours of regular care logged on attendance form, call for more details)

2) I can keep separate and care for mildly sick children. When they are too sick for school but, you still have to work.

3) I have traditional and non-traditional hours available. Most childcares, both in-home and centers, are closed by 6:00pm. I offer over night care and emergency care if your work hours change suddenly.

4) If a parent works or attends school until 11 pm and the next day has an extra early 6:00am shift, the children may stay that over-night free.

5) One "favor" of free childcare (lasting 2 or 3 hours) a week can be arranged upon approval so that a parent can :go to the doctor, do laundry, clean house, attend a WIC appointment, meet with their Child Action worker, visit a friend, go grocery shopping, run other errands...

6) In the last 6 years I have never been closed because I was sick and I'm open during school holidays (like Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day ...) when most other childcares and daycare centers are also closed.

7) (You have to read my handbook to find out)

Thank you for your time.
